Hi, my name is Kristen Allard and I'm a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. 

 

I have a passion for fitness, nutrition, and healthy living, but my life wasn't always lived that way.  I was always a healthy weight as a child, but I had a taste for junk food that began to catch up with me as a teenager.  I started to really put on weight by senior year of high school and, before I knew it, I  gained close to 50 pounds. Embarrassed by my weight gain, I turned to fad diets as a way to quickly shed pounds. I remember trying Weight Watchers, Slim Fast, Fat Flush, The Three Hour Diet and South Beach, and I'm sure there were numerous others in between.  When I wasn't trying the latest fad, I was living off of 100 calorie packs, frozen meals, and other processed foods that were marketed as “healthy”.  Like many people, I would lose some weight, slide back into my old eating habits, and ultimately find myself heavier than I was before. I was always hungry, tired, and cranky. This cycle went on until my mid-twenties, when I finally decided something had to change. 

 

In 2012, I joined a gym and began reading as much information on nutrition as I could get my hands on.  For the first time, I started eating

real, whole foods, and cooking many of my meals at home.  I quickly found that as I started to incorporate healthier eating habits into my lifestyle, not only did I finally lose the weight, I also had no trouble keeping it off!  I continued to develop my strong desire to learn as much as I possibly could about exercise and nutrition, and quickly became the “go to” person among coworkers, friends and family for health and fitness advice.

I decided that my life would be better spent utilizing my newfound passion and knowledge to help others.  Although it was terrifying, I left my career as a legal assistant and started from scratch as a personal trainer. I attended school in 2015 at the American Center of Corrective Exercise and Personal Training (ACCEPT) and received my personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Soon after, I received both my Level 1 and Level 2 certifications from Precision Nutrition. 

 

In 2014, several months before attending personal training school, I decided I was ready to take my health to the next level by transitioning to a whole foods, plant-based diet. At that point, I was  reading quite a bit about the numerous health benefits of plant-based nutrition and felt inspired to make the change.  Five years later, I can truly say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.  I know the difference that fitness and quality nutrition have made in my life, and am excited to be able to share that passion and knowledge with others as I help them reach their goals.
